Humane Education Programs
The Ontario SPCA identifies Humane Education as one of its priorities. The Ontario SPCA Leeds & Grenville Branch aims to support this by being actively involved in our community through the promotion of humane education in our schools, Girl Guides and Scout groups, as well as any other groups concerned about the welfare of animals.
Education is one of the key ways that we can prevent cruelty. It helps ensure that all animals receive the respect that they deserve and allows them to be a positive and helpful addition to our lives, families and communities.
The Leeds & Grenville Branch offers in-class lessons relating to Pet Care, Animal Empathy, Dog Bite Prevention and Animal Cruelty. All topics are handled in an age appropriate way. Visits to the Adoption Centre can be booked throughout the year which allows the children and adults the ability to interact in a safe environment with the animals. Other special requests will also be considered.
In July and August we also offer a one week camp for children 8 to 12 years of age.
If you would like book a visit or just find out more about our program, please contact our manager, Marianne Carlyle at (613) 345-5520.
